Power generation to the national grid dipped below 4,000 megawatts over the weekend, leaving customers across the nation with a limited supply of electricity.
Checks of data supplied by the National System Operator (NSO), an independent arm of the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) revealed that only 18 of the country’s 25 power plants supplied electricity to the grid.
Additional checks revealed that generation as of noon yesterday was 3,518.7MW, a decrease of 18.6% compared to the average generation recorded last Friday of 4,324.1MW.
The power plant with the largest decrease was Azura-Edo IPP, which recorded 256MW compared to 403,18MW last week.
The Azura-Edo website revealed that two of its three-generation units were connected to the power grid.
