Kano Varsity gets 17 new professors

The Governing Council of Kano University of Science and Technology on Friday promoted no fewer than 17 senior academic staff to the rank of Professor.

A statement signed by Abdullahi Datti Abdullahi,the Deputy Registrar,/Deputy Head of Information and Public Relations Unit, KUST that was made available to newsmen in Kano said the promotion of the professors followed approval granted to that effect by the University Governing Council at it’s 50th meeting during the week.

The statement noted that the approval by the Council led by its Chairman and Pro-Chancellor Malam A.B Mahmoud was sequel to favourable external assessment reports in respect of the affected staff.

Abdullahi D Abdullahi in the statement said “the assessment report indicated that six were assessed as Professors, while 11 were moved to the ranks of Associate Professors.”

According to the statement, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Shehu Alhaji Musa has congratulated the newly promoted staff and urged them to strive towards uplifting the University through researches and academic excellence.
