Breaking: We never withdrew from appeal on Kano governorship case, INEC makes u-turn


The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has categorically stated that withdrawn of the appeal against the decision of the Kano Governorship Court.

In a letter dated October 6 and signed by Suleiman Alkali, the head of the legal department of the commission in Kano, INEC said it has withdrawn its appeal because it has no reason to appeal the decision.  the court did.

The headquarters of the commission instructed me that INEC in its position has no reason to appeal in any decision.

However, while talking to the media on Friday evening, Suleiman Alkali said that the letter written to the Kano governorship election hearing court has been withdrawn from the appeal.

The judge said that withdrawing the letter was appropriate because there was no reason for it in the first place.

Although it can be understood that there is power of the elite in the matter.

On September 20, the 3-member panel of judges declared APC candidate Nasiru Gawuna as the winner of the governorship election held on March 18.

However, the NNPP and Governor Alh Abba Kabir Yusuf went to the Court of Appeal in Kaduna to challenge the decision.
