‘The error is sincerely regretted’ – Presidency apologizes for saying Tinubu is first African leader to ring NASDAQ bell

The Presidency has officially apologized for claiming President Bola Tinubu was the first African leader to ring the NASDAQ bell.

Checks have shown that a former African leader had previously rung the bell at NASDAQ, debunking the initial claim of Tinubu’s historic achievement.

According to a terse statement released on Friday by the State House Media and Publicity Unit, the error was regretted.

The statement reads: “we inadvertently referred to President Bola Tinubu as the first African leader to ring the bell at NASDAQ on Wednesday in New York, based on the information provided by a third-party event organiser.

“We have since found out that this information was or is incorrect, as a former African leader has indeed had the privilege.
