The University of Jos community has been thrown into mourning following the killing of a 400-level student of the Department of English Ruth Yakadi by suspected hoodlums.
The victim from Anaguta tribe in Plateau State, was said to have been killed after being raped by her assailants.
A viral video has now shown Yakadi lying near a canal with blood all over her body.
Eyewitnesses near the scene of the incident, which occurred at Farin-Gada community, said the corpse was discovered in the early hours of Sunday.
The discovery of the corpse was said to have angered some residents, who staged a protest, as some hoodlums took advantage of the situation to attack traders and other passersby.
When contacted, the Head, Department of English, UNIJOS, Prof. Jeff Doki, said the deceased was waiting for mobilisation by the National Youth Service Corps after her project.
