FG Approves $5.3b For Ibadan-Kano Rail Project

The Federal Government has approved the $5. 3 billion for the construction of standard gauge rail line from Ibadan to Kano. Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi disclosed this in Lagos during the third Maritime Stakeholders Interactive Forum.

He said the Federal Executive (FEC) approved the construction of the Ibadan- Kano standard gauge rail line, adding that he has also applied for funding to commence coastal rail for the Port Harcourt-Warri segment.

A statement in Abuja by his Special Assistant on Media, Israel Ibeleme, revealed that Amaechi also disclosed that the Minister of State, Gbemisola Saraki would be in charge of all maritime agencies, while he would focus on the Railway sector.
