South East Youth Congress [SEYC] has beckoned on Governor Willie Obiano to get ready for the Senate on completion of his second term, in 2022, in order to continue the resourceful service to ndi Anambra as a role model at the federal level.
National leader of the Pan-Igbo youth organisation, Ihejirika Kelechi Ohuoha, made the clarion call during their 2019 ”IriJi” (new yam) festival, at the Alex Ekwueme Square, Awka, at the weekend, and urged the governor to graciously accept the request as a popular demand by the youth in the South East zone.
Ohuoha asserted that the unprecedented achievements by the incumbent administration in the state ought to be replicated at the national level as a way of deepening Nigeria’s democracy and promoting good governance in the country.
He said that the involvement of credible, tested and trusted leaders like Akpokuedike in the National Assembly [NASS], would not only give ndigbo a voice in the upper chamber, but would immensely raise the betterment of the masses.
Insisting that Governor Obiano already possessed the experience, quality and attribute required of a seasoned parliamentarian. Ohuoha appealed to the people of Anambra North to support the SEYC in persuading Governor Obiano to make himself available to represent the zone in the senate come 2023”.
He stressed that the Igbo race needed the best available people of proven integrity, honesty and transparent commitment to the collective interests and aspirations of the geopolitical zone in the NASS for sound and qualitative representation under the current political equation in the federation.
He maintained that Governor Obiano ranks as the most youth-friendly leader in the present democratic dispensation. Ohuoha recalled the recent World Youth Day celebration rally at the Alex Ekwueme Square, Awka, sponsored by the state government and SEYC, as a typical proof of Governor Obiano’s empowerment programmes for youths in the state.
