Members of the Islamic Brotherhood of Nigeria (IMN) popularly called Shiites began another round of protests in Abuja around Banex plaza on Tuesday, after Monday’s (yesterday) bloody clash that left 13 people including a deputy commissioner of police and a television reporter with Channels dead.
The protest has since turned bloody prompting people to scamper for safety.
The group is protesting the continued detention of their leader, Ibrahim El-Zakzaky who has been in detention since 2015.
Two weeks ago, members of the group scaled the fence of the National Assembly to present their grievances to the lawmakers, but were stopped midway. The incidence led to destruction of property, while many were injured.
