Achievers University Expels 15 Students Over Sex Video Violations

Achievers University, Owo, Ondo State, has expelled 15 female students for their alleged involvement in sex video–related misconduct, the institution’s Pro-Chancellor, Prof. Bode Ayorinde, has announced.

Prof. Ayorinde disclosed this on Friday during the university’s matriculation ceremony, where 936 newly admitted students were formally inducted into the institution.

Addressing the students, the Pro-Chancellor warned against behaviors capable of undermining their academic future, stressing that the university operates a strict zero-tolerance policy toward indiscipline.

He cautioned against the misuse of social media, noting that acts such as recording and sharing nude or sexually explicit content linked to the university’s name would attract severe sanctions, including expulsion.

Prof. Ayorinde also revealed that a male student, who was close to completing his studies, was dismissed after allegedly making statements inviting Boko Haram to the campus. According to him, the university refunded the student’s tuition fees amounting to ₦2.3 million before expelling him.

Reiterating the institution’s stance on discipline, he said the management had dismissed more than 15 female students over sex video offences, urging students to focus on their education and personal development rather than activities that could derail their ambitions.

Recalling previous disciplinary actions, the Pro-Chancellor stated that in 2025, the university expelled 17 students for attempting to fraudulently obtain examination clearance without paying their fees. He added that three other students were dismissed for involvement in hard drug dealings.

He further advised students to avoid drug abuse, fighting, and excessive alcohol consumption, while encouraging them to report any form of illicit activity. He emphasized that both staff and students found guilty of sexual harassment or molestation would face firm disciplinary measures.

Prof. Ayorinde also appealed to parents and guardians to provide proper guidance for their children, warning that parental indulgence in wrongdoing could negatively affect students’ academic journeys.

Meanwhile, the Acting Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Amos Aremu, said Achievers University remains committed to quality education, discipline, and academic integrity. He described the matriculation ceremony as more than a formal rite, but the beginning of a journey toward self-discovery, intellectual growth, and meaningful contribution to society.
