Former PRNigeria Manger, Adnan Mukhtar Seeks Retraction of Defamatory Social Media Post
By Ozumi Abdul
Adnan Mukhtar Tudunwada, former manager of the PRNigeria Kano Centre, has issued a 24-hour demand notice calling for the immediate retraction of an alleged defamatory social media post and a public apology from its author.
In a letter sent through his solicitors that was sighted by this newspaper, Tudunwada said the publication, made on January 25, 2026, contained false and malicious claims against his late father and members of his family. The post, written in Hausa and circulated on a social media platform, allegedly accused his late father of collecting textile materials and livestock on credit without repayment and made further insinuations about his family.
According to the letter, Tudunwada described the claims as baseless and damaging to the reputation of his family. He stated that his late father was a respected legal professional who served with distinction until his death on April 25, 1993, shortly after his appointment as Solicitor General of Kano State.
The notice further clarified that Tudunwada’s mother is a married woman of good standing who recently retired from the Kano State Civil Service in December 2025, dismissing any insinuations made against her character.
His solicitors said the publication amounted to defamation and is both criminally and civilly actionable under Nigerian law. They demanded that the author retract the statements in the same medium in which they were published, issue an unambiguous public apology to Tudunwada and his family, and refrain from making further defamatory comments.
The letter warned that failure to comply within 24 hours of receipt would result in legal action, including claims for substantial damages and associated costs.
As of the time of filing this report, there was no public response from the individual alleged to have made the social media post.
