JUST IN: Kano Governor in Closed- door Meeting With Tinubu, as Defection Talks Continue

Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State is currently in a closed-door meeting with President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, ending days of unsuccessful attempts to secure an audience with the president and further fuelling speculation about his political future.

The meeting according to sources revolve around his planned defection to the ruling All Progressive Congress.

Yusuf arrived at the Presidential Villa at about 4:10 pm, dressed in a white babanriga and a red cap, according to sources familiar with the development.

An earlier attempt by the Kano governor to meet Tinubu on Sunday reportedly failed because the president was resting and recovering from jet lag after returning from an overseas trip.

The meeting has attracted significant political attention amid growing reports that Yusuf, who was elected on the platform of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), may be planning to defect to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Sources said the governor is expected to use the meeting to discuss terms and conditions that could pave the way for his possible move to the APC, a development that would reshape the political landscape in Kano State and add to recent shifts within Nigeria’s opposition parties.
