Tragedy in Kano: Governor Yusuf mourns Two Lawmakers

Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has expressed profound shock and deep pain over the sudden death of two serving members of the Kano State House of Assembly on the same day.

This was contained in a statement signed by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa on Wednesday, 24 December, 2025.

He described the deaths as heartbreaking, unprecedented tragedy in Kano state.

Hon. Sarki Aliyu Daneji, member representing Kano Municipal Local Government Area, and Hon. Aminu Sa’adu, who represented Ungoggo Local Government have left the government and people of Kano in grief.

The governor stressed that the loss of two vibrant lawmakers within hours is a heartbreaking tragedy.

According to him, “the deceased legislators were dedicated public servants, loyal politicians, and dependable voices of their constituents, whose commitment to lawmaking and grassroots representation remained unquestionable.”

Governor Yusuf stated that “Kano State has lost two sons who devoted their lives to public service, their sudden departures have created a painful vacuum in the Assembly and in their respective communities” he added.

He extended his deepest condolences to the bereaved families, the leadership and members of the Kano State House of Assembly, and the people of Kano Municipal and Ungoggo Local Government Areas.

The governor prayed that Allah (SWT) forgives their shortcomings, envelopes them in His infinite mercy, admits them into Aljannatul Firdaus, and grants their families and the entire people of Kano the strength to endure the monumental loss.

Governor Yusuf called on the people of the state to remain calm, united, and prayerful, describing the tragedy as a test of faith and collective resilience.

Hon. Amin Saad has been buried at Ungoggo cemetary, while the funeral rites of Hon. Sarki Aliyu will take place by 10am at the Emir’s palace mosque on Thursday morning.
