Nollywood actress and politician Tonto Dikeh has spoken candidly about her spiritual deliverance from prolonged anger issues, smoking, alcohol addiction and masturbation.
Dikeh made the disclosure while sharing her testimony during a Sunday service at Streams of Joy International Church, led by its founder, Pastor Jerry Eze.
Addressing the congregation, the actress revealed that she began smoking at the age of 13 and struggled for several years with alcohol and masturbation, saying her transformation came through what she described as divine intervention.
She explained that her appearance at the altar was both a testimony and a thanksgiving, noting that she almost pulled out over concerns about her public image.
“I smoked since I was 13. God healed me from masturbation too. I struggled with demonic anger, an anger that destroyed my life. Everybody had to feel it,” she said. “But praying with NSPPD, God took all of those away and gave me peace.”
Dikeh added that she had battled what she described as spiritual oppression for years, but noticed a turning point after attending the Ghana Prayer Conference.
“I realised that the weak man who held me captive all my years in my dream ran away,” she said.
Reflecting on her personal growth, the actress said she is experiencing peace for the first time in her life. “I am 40 years old, and I can tell you I have never known peace until now. I am living in it,” she stated.
She also attributed her long-term smoking habit, which she said lasted about 27 years, to early exposure at home, using the moment to advise parents to be mindful of habits they model around children.
“Something as little as that habit can inhabit the lives of your children,” Dikeh said, adding that she now feels completely free from the addiction.
The actress concluded by stressing that she chose to speak openly despite fears about public perception, saying, “The God that gave me the image is the same God that can take it away.”
