UNICAL nursing students protest arrest of nurses over theft of deceased patient’s SIM card

Nursing students at the University of Calabar (UNICAL) have staged a protest following the arrest of three of their colleagues, who are accused of stealing the SIM card belonging to a deceased patient.

This was shared in a post on X (formerly Twitter) by user @ChuksEricE.

The post featured two videos showing the nursing students demonstrating on campus.

According to the caption, the protesters blocked all entrances to the University of Calabar Teaching Hospital in response to the police arrest and detention of the three nurses.

The caption read: “Nurses at the University of Calabar Teaching Hospital have blocked all entrances to the facility in an ongoing protest following the arrest and detention of three of their colleagues by the police, who are accused of allegedly stealing the SIM card of a deceased patient.”

So far, the police have not issued an official statement to confirm or deny the allegations.
