Gunmen attack Natasha Akpoti’s family house in Kogi

The lawmaker representing Kogi Central, Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, raised the alarm on Thursday that some armed men raided her family home in Obeiba-Ihima, Kogi State.

The senator disclosed this in a statement issued in Abuja by her media team.

According to her, the gunmen invaded and vandalised the residence which belongs to her grandfather on Tuesday.

The attack, according to the report, was, however, repelled by security agents.

The statement partly read, “Two days ago, my younger brother took some contractors to my hometown in Ihima to inspect locations for upcoming projects that I attracted to my senatorial district. The unknown gunmen assumed I was the one in town and attacked my family’s house that night.

“Thankfully, the civil defence team and community members responded promptly and chased them off. A report was made to the police area command, and no one was hurt. We urge the Inspector General of Police to immediately reinstate my security details. ”

The statement also urged the public to remain calm and support the pursuit of justice for the lawmaker, saying her dedication to her constituents should not be met with violence and intimidation.
