Kaduna: Gunmen kill two herders, rustle 223 cows

Two herders were shot dead on Saturday evening, and 223 cows were rustled by bandits at Haying-Dam, in the Kachia local government area of Kaduna State. The bandits, in their large numbers, were said to have attacked three herders’ camps in the area with AK-47 rifles.

The incident happened on Saturday, around 6 p.m., when the bandits first attacked the camp of one Alhaji Ibrahim Yabari and rustled 123 cows before they proceeded to the second camp and took away 100 cows, according to the Daily Post.

According to a source, “one of the bandits opened fire and killed two herders when they were trying to resist them from rustling the cows.”

The source explained that troops who were stationed at neighboring Janjala village, later came to the community and were still on the trail of the bandits.

DSP Mansur Hassan, the spokesman for the Kaduna State Police Command, when contacted, did not answer calls put to his mobile phone.
