The President, Defence and Police Officers’ Wives Association (DEPOWA), and wife of Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), Barrister (Mrs) Vickie Irabor has distributed large quality relief materials to widows of fallen heroes and the Christ Treasure Orphanage Home in Kwali, Abuja. The Ramadan outreach and humanitarian gesture by DEPOWA to these vulnerable groups of persons are aimed at complementing the non-kinetic operations of the Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN).
The DEPOWA President Speaking while presenting the items, said the Association decided to reach out to the widows in the spirit of Ramadan, noting that the women are very special and dear to their heart, as the AFN and the Nation will always cherish the memories of their husbands (fallen heroes) who laid their paid the supreme price for the Country.
Barr Irabor commended the widows for keeping the home front since the demise of their husbands, noting that DEPOWA and indeed the AFN will continue to support them.
She urged them to remain strong in the task of bringing up their children and expressed gratitude for their prayers and support for troops in the operational theatre.
Also speaking at the Christ Treasure Orphanage Home, Mrs. Irabor, further noted that the humanitarian work by DEPOWA is targeted at the less privileged in the society. She lauded the commitment of the management of the Orphanage to taking care of the children, and promised continuous support.
She urged the children to remain, worthy ambassadors, as their future would be greater.
Responding on behalf of the management of Christ Orphanage home, Mrs. Queen Abraham expressed appreciation to the DEPOWA President for the benevolence in meeting the immediate needs of the orphanage.
She promised that the items would be judicially used for the children. She prayed for the DEPOWA President and other members of the Association for identifying with the orphanage home.
Among the Items distributed by DEPOWA to the widows and orphanage home, including bags of rice, beans, garri, cartons of noodles, packs of spaghetti, tubers of yams, bags of millets, tea provisions, and toiletries as well as cash.
