2023 Election: Naira Marley comes under fire for declaring his interest to run for presidency

Nigerian singer, Adeshina Fashola better known as Naira Marley has come under fire for indicating his interest to contest for presidential election.

The “Soapy” crooner had taken to his Twitter page to throw a question at his fans.

He questioned if they would vote for him if he collects the presidential form.

Naira Marley tweeted, “If I get presidential form, Shey una go vote for me?”.

Celebrity critic, Daniel Regha had hit back at him with hurtful words.

He pointed out how the singer’s lifestyle doesn’t fit that of a role model.

Daniel stated that the Marlian president has a tasteless music and a displeasing lifestyle, coupled with poor leadership qualities.

He added that with his star power, there is so much he can do to better the world but he has chosen to play a deaf ear.

Daniel Regha hoped that the singer turn a new leaf soon.

He tweeted, “Naira Marley u are not a good role model. Ur music is tasteless, ur lifestyle is utterly displeasing & u have zero leadership qualities. With ur star power there’s a lot u can do to make the world a better place but u chose not to, hope u turn a new leaf soon. No offense”.

Naira Marley had reacted to the ban of his new song ‘Coming’ 24 hours after it was released.

The song which featured award-winning South African female vocalist and poet, Busiswa, was released on Thursday 18th of March and was met with mixed reactions from the public.

The lyrics of the song was too sexual that many called for it to be banned.

Taking to Twitter to react to the sudden ban of the song despite the notice that it was rated 18, the 29-year-old wrote;

“Wait they banned my song (coming) already? Haaa”

In another tweet, the “soapy” crooner wrote;

“Oh it’s not banned yh? Okay I’m #COMING let me fuck shii upppp.
