A 47-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly defiling a 9-year-old girl by the Adamawa State Police Command.
The man, Alphonsus Peter, is being investigated allegedly for assaulting the minor in his neighbourhood.
Adamawa State Police Public Relations Officer, Suleiman Nguroje, DSP Suleiman Nguroje, said in a statement on Tuesday that the suspect was arrested on 29th March 2021.
Nguroje explained that the suspect, a resident of Demsawo, in Yola North Local Government Area, lured the girl into his room when he noticed that her parents, his neighbours, had gone out and left the girl all alone in their apartment.
Nguroje said the cry of the minor attracted the attention of other neighbours who rushed into Alphonsus’ room.
