Troops of the Nigerian Navy have arrested three suspected kidnappers in Kujama, Chikun local government area of Kaduna state.
It was gathered that the bandits, in a black Toyota Corolla, drove up to the shop of a POS agent in the area Friday during which they attempted to kidnap the operator and a customer who was there for business transaction.
The state’s commissioner for internal security and home affairs, Mr Samuel Aruwan, announced this in a statement Sunday.
He said an alarm was raised and NN troops at Kujama checkpoint arrived the scene to apprehend the suspects before they could escape with their captives.
The statement identified the suspected abductors as Kabiru Yusuf, Salihu Ibrahim and Naziru Haruna, all of whom have been handed over to the police for further investigation and prosecution.
Also, Aruwan said the rescued victims – Franklin Silas (the POS operator) and Blessing Fada – both residents of Kujama – were safe and assisting security agencies in their investigations.
Governor Nasir El-Rufai commended the troops for their swift response leading to the arrest of the suspects, and urged the police to ensure a diligent investigation that will forestall further activities of the criminals.
