Kano Coalition of Ulamas on Tuesday approached the State House of Assembly to enact a law that would ban the use of French goods and services across the state.
Sheikh Ibrahim Shehu, leader of the Group who was at the Assembly to confer with the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Abdul’azeez Garba Gafasa over the development, expressed displeasure over blasphemous comments by France President, Emmanuel Macron about the holy prophet and Islam.

The statement signed By Nura Bala Aji reads: “Kano coalition of Ulamas has unanimously kicked against blasphemous comments about the holy prophet and Islam made by French President Emmanuel Macron.
The leader of the organization, Sheikh Ibrahim Shehu Maihula stated this while visiting Speaker, Kano State House of Assembly Rt. Hon. Abdul’azeez Garba Gafasa today at Kano legislative house.
He said Kano Ulamas felt the need to emotionally present their ill-feelings on behalf of the entire Muslims in the state and wait for the resolution on the issue to the house for taking the appropriate course of action.
While presenting the letter, signed by the union leaders, one of the officials, Sheikh Ibrahim Mu’azzam Maibashira called on the House to establish laws that will ban the use of all French products and their services to demonstrate Muslims’ displeasure.
While responding, the speaker Rt. Hon. Abdul’azeez Garba Gafasa said the house has received the letter and will do everything possible to protect the divine dignity of the exalted holy prophet and Islam at large.
He added that the 40 members in the present parliament representing the entirety Muslims, which are ready for ensuring that Islam will increasingly become an untouchable fortress in Muslim community not in Nigeria, but globally.”
