Two communities namely Ariku and Lagun in Lagelu Local Government Area (LGA) of Oyo state have been stricken with strange disease ravaging residents.
Already, no fewer than 11 persons have died from the said disease initially perceived to be Cholera .
The caretaker chairman of the LGA, Mr Kelani Abdullahi, said that the strange disease has resulted in the death of 11 persons with five others currently in hospital while another four have been discharged from hospital.
Abdullahi said the local government investigation has shown that the disease might be a result of lack of access to clean and potable water by the affected persons in their various communities.
Also, the Oyo state Commissioner for Health, Dr Bashiru Bello, disclosed that the tests carried out on the affected persons were still premature as the samples collected from them have not confirmed the sickness to be cholera.
