A member of the Neighborhood watch identified as Ashiru Musa Danrimi last Thursday allegedly stabbed himself to death in Kano over a failed romance.
Eye witness account told Verity News that Musa Danrimi took his own life when he learned that his girlfriend, Fatima Umi was married off to another man.
The young lady at the centre of the troubled romance was identified as Umi Muhammad, a resident of Danrimi, Kadawa ward of Ungogo Local Government area of the state.
The witness who do not want his name in print because of the sensitive nature of the story explained that Danrimi’s emotional investments on Umi was heavy, but wasn’t expected to end in a tragedy.
He explained that Danrimi caught everyone unaware of his plan, as last minute efforts by relation and bystanders to forestall the heinous act failed.
The witness said the relationship between late Danrimi and Umi was a popular one within the neighborhood, and was quick to rule out forced marriage.
The account disclosed that operatives of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps arrived too late to evacuate his body to the hospital where he was pronounced dead by a medical doctor on duty.
When contacted for comments,DSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyaye while confirming the incidence, said the Commissioner of police, Habu Sani has ordered a comprehensive investigation on the matter.

Meanwhile the police authority in Kano has launched a comprehensive enquiry on the circumstances that led to the tragic death of Musa Danrimi
DSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa told Verity News that, his principal, the Commissioner of police, Habu A. Sani has ordered detectives to unravel the mystery surrounding the death of the young man.
DSP Kiyawa said “we are exploiting every lead connected to the tragic incident, and we will leave no stone unturned to get to the root of this matter”.
He said though “we recovered a knife stuck to his bowel while conveying him to the hospital on emergency before he gave up the ghost, however, it is not enough to allow the case die down.
