His statement after the release:
I was released to Malam Muhammad Sani of Radio France International.
I want to extend my profound gratitude and appreciation to my colleagues who stood by me during my arrest by the police today during the IMN protest in Abuja.
My appreciation to the Commissioner of Police FCT who reviewed the matter and asked for my release.
I was never assaulted or maltreated by the police apart from ceasing my liberty for some hours.
I hope that journalists and the police will continue to explore possibilities for understanding and working together. We report, they enforce the law.
