A tourism and hospitality outfit, De Arena Event and Relaxation Centre, on Thursday donated 100 bags of rice, hand sanitisers and cash gifts to Kuje Area Council of FCT as palliatives to help cushion the effect of lockdown in the area.
Presenting the items, Mr Akabog Innocent, the Administrative Officer of the centre, said the gesture was to complement the council’s efforts at cushioning the impact of the lockdown on vulnerable residents.
According to him, all hands must be on deck to win the war against the COVID-19 pandemic by maintaining physical distancing and personal hygiene.
“Every part of the world is already shut down by the pandemic; this is something we don’t pray for but has come and we have to face it.
“This virus is not a joke, we should endeavor to wash our hands regularly, use hand sanitisers and maintain physical distancing.
“We should try to stay indoors, and this must be followed religiously so as to contain the further spread and win the war against the virus,” he said.
Mr Abdullahi Sabo, the Chairman of Kuje Area Council, who received the items, thanked the centre for the gesture and promised to distribute them to the vulnerable in the area.
The chairman described the intervention as timely, adding that it will mitigate the effect of the lockdown on the residents.
Sabo also assured that the items would be distributed equitably to touch the lives of the vulnerable residents in the council, irrespective of political, religious or ethnic affiliation.
The council boss advised residents to remain indoor in accordance with the stay-at-home order of the Federal Government and expert advice to prevent the spread of COVID-19 pandemic. (NAN)
