
Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, Tuesday has approved the appointment of Professor Marietu Ohunene Tenuche as the acting Vice Chancellor, Prince Abubakar Audu Unversity, Anyigba, the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Onogwu Muhammad revealed in a press statement.
Before her new appointment, she was a Deputy Vice Chancellor.
Prof Tenuche made history, having been the first woman to become the vice chancellor of the university.
In the letter signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr Ayoade Folashade Arike, Governor Bello also also approved the appointment of Dr. Salisu Ogbo Usman as the Acting Rector of Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja.
Before their appointments, Professor Tenuche was a two-time Deputy Vice Chancellor of the institution. She is replacing Professor Mohammed S. Abdulkadir, who is to proceed on a terminal leave.
Dr. Usman was the Head, Department of Political Science and member of the Governing Council of the University. Dr Usman replaces Professor M.S Atureta, who has been relieved of his appointment.
Governor Bello wishes the former heads of the institutions the best in their future endeavours and thanked them for their intellectual contributions to the development of the state’s institutions.
These appointments take immediate effect.
