The Bayelsa state APC governorship primary election process began yesterday, after a Bayelsa Court which earlier restrained the party from holding the election under the Direct mode vacated the order yesterday.
Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni, who is the chairman of the Bayelsa primary election committee, said yesterday that the party will use the direct mode of election to conduct the primaries.
In a chat with reporters in Yenagoa, Governor Buni said the process has started and that the party will ensure a candidate emerges within the timetable and framework set by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Governor Buni, who had a meeting with all the aspirants vying to get the party’s ticket and other stakeholders in Yenagoa yesterday, said the APC is one family and that once the primary election is over, the entire party will rally round the aspirant who emerges as candidate and face the general election with vigor and confidence.
“We are one family. We are focused on the general election. Once we are done with the primary election now, we will all rally round our party’s flag bearer and ensure that we win Bayelsa State for our party”, Governor Buni said.
The primary election committee is now working with all the aspirants to roll out modalities for the direct primary election.
