Why Iheanacho Is Yet To Play For Leicester City This Season – Leicester City Coach Explains

Kelechi Iheanacho who had a very good pre season was widely expected to get a look in for Leicester City this season but that hasn’t been the case as he is yet to a minute of action this season.

Iheanacho has missed out on the last two squads for matchdays at Leicester City with the peak of it coming when he was left out of the squad for the Carabao Cup second round game against Newcastle United.

Linked with a move away before the end of the European transfer window time appears not to be on his side with the transfer window set to close on Monday meaning he could yet end up staying at the team where he has dropped to third choice striker.

Explaining the reason behind his lack of inclusion in the squad of Leicester City in their last two games, Leicester City assistant coach Chris Davies said the need to have balance in their matchday squad is responsible for his omission from their squad for games.

” “(There is no) No reason. We try and balance the bench the best we can. Kel has been working well in training, there are no issues at all.”It’s just a case of recently, we have had Demarai Gray on the bench instead of Kel. He (Gray) is a multi-functional attacking player who can play out wide and up front”, the coach explained .

“We also have Ayoze (Perez) who can play up front, so we just felt the balance that we have, it was better to stick with what we did on the weekend.”
