Liverpool have held on to all three points after surviving late onslaught from Southampton at St Mary’s on Saturday.
Adrian started in goal for Liverpool after managing to overcome his ankle injury and was called into action after 20 minutes as he was forced to save Yoshida’s header from point-blank range.
With just second remaining in the first half, Mane stepped up to give Liverpool the lead after firing a superb shot into the far corner, beating Gunn all ends up in the Saints net.
The Reds should’ve been two goals up but Firmino’s shot went agonisingly just past the post 20 minutes after the restart. However, five minutes later Firmino got his goal after he brilliantly danced his way inside the area before placing a low driven effort into the left-hand side of the goal.
Adrian then went from hero to zero after he casually had a pass intercepted by Ings to score against his former side. Ings had a glorious opportunity to equalise for the Saints but the English striker was unable to make the most of the chance.
