Arsenal 2-1 Burnley: Laca & Auba send Gunners to top as Ceballos assists twice

Arsenal have made it two wins from two to kick-start their Premier League season after holding off a resilient Burnley side at the Emirates on Saturday.

Alexandre Lacazette broke the deadlock through sheer determination as he muscled off his man at a corner before squeezing a shot through the legs of Nick Pope inside 13 minutes. However, Sean Dyche’s men capitalised on a quick counter-attack minutes before the break as Ashley Barnes equalised from inside the area.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang then superbly restored Arsenal’s lead as he ran at the Clarets defence before powering a low, hard shot past Pope from outside the box to make it 2-1. Unai Emery’s men held on to secure all three points in north London.

Ceballos’ corner is controlled extremely well by the French striker who fends off both Mee and Pieters before turning and firing an off-balance shot towards Pope which squeaks through between the goalkeeper’s legs!

McNeil has a strike at goal which is blocked in the penalty area by Guendouzi. The ricochet falls extremely fortunately to an unmarked Barnes, who easily taps it past the splayed Leno!

Aubameyang bends a cross to the far side of the penalty area for Lacazette, whose fantastic first touch places the ball beautifully ahead of him. His quick centring pass for Ceballos isn’t well disguised, however, as a defender immediately cuts it out.
