The North Central chapter of the Social Democratic Party, SDP, has confirmed the expulsion of a former presidential candidate of the party, Prof. Jerry Gana, alleging that Mr Gana was a liability to the party.
The leader of the chapter, Abubakar Dogara made the disclosure in a statement on Wednesday in Jos, Plateau State.
According to the statement, Alfa Muhammed was also expelled from the National Executive Council of the party.
He said the decision was reached following a recommendation by the Niger State SDP leadership of the SDP under the chairmanship of Bukhari Yakubu-Yarima.
“The Niger State SDP leadership under the able chairmanship of Barr Bukhari Yakubu Yarima reaffirmed the expulsion of Prof Jerry Gana and Alfa Muhammed from SDP by the National Executive Council of the Party,” the statement said.
According to the statement, since Mr Gana joined the party in march 2018 to the time he was expelled, he could not rent an office for the party in Niger State.
“Prof Gana has never added value to the party here in Niger State but crisis and disaffection among members of the party,” the statement said.
Mr Dogara, therefore, called on the party members in the zone to remain focused and loyal to the party and disregard any claim by the expelled members.
