2027: Kogunan Gusau Declares Interest in Zamfara Governorship Race Under APC

Alhaji Muktar Shehu Idris, popularly known as Kogunan Gusau, a prominent figure in the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Zamfara State, has declared his interest in contesting the governorship of Zamfara State on the platform of the APC in the 2027 elections.

Kogunan Gusau made this known while addressing his supporters in Gusau, the state capital.

Despite the Supreme Court judgment that affirmed Bello Matawalle of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as the winner of the 2019 governorship election, Alhaji Muktar Shehu Idris has remained a key player in Zamfara State politics.

He explained that the consistent support and repeated calls from his supporters across the state encouraged him to step forward and seek the governorship ticket of the APC for the 2027 election.

He urged his supporters to remain calm and law-abiding, stressing the need for unity among all members and supporters of the APC in Zamfara State.

Kogunan Gusau further called on his supporters to respect the party’s leadership structure and avoid actions that could divide the party or damage its image. He emphasized the importance of peace and adherence to the rule of law in achieving meaningful progress under democratic governance.

He also encouraged eligible citizens to participate in the ongoing voter registration exercise and register as members of the APC, assuring that he would always adhere strictly to the party’s constitution and guidelines to ensure the APC’s success in Zamfara State.
