Police Arrest Three in Kano Over ₦75m Car Purchase with Fake Bank Alert

The Kano State Police Command has arrested three suspects in connection with the alleged purchase of a luxury vehicle using a fake bank transaction alert.

This was contained in a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, Kano State Command, on January 30, 2026.

The suspects, identified as Ibrahim Tijjani, Jamilu Auwal and Mohammed Nura Dauda—were apprehended on January 28, 2026, at Kabuga Quarters in Kano following actionable intelligence received by the police.

According to a statement issued by the Command, the arrests were carried out by the Special Intervention Squad (SIS) as part of ongoing intelligence-led policing directives of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects allegedly bought a white Mercedes-Benz GLE from Gwarinpa, Abuja, for ₦75 million using a fake bank alert. The alert was reportedly sent by another suspect, Ibrahim Yahaya, who is currently on the run.

The vehicle has since been recovered and handed over to the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command for further investigation and possible prosecution.
