NYCN Zaria Celebrates Students on International Day of Education

In celebration of the International Day of Education 2026, the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) Zaria Chapter has flagged off its sensitization and schools orientation program as part of their move to promote literacy in Zaria.

The Coordinator of the National Youth Council of Nigeria Zaria Branch, Yusuf Aliyu, led a delegation to Government Girls Secondary School Zaria (GGSS) to interact and celebrate with the SS3 students who will be writing their final exams this year.

Speaking during the flag-off event, the coordinator encouraged the students to embrace mentorship programs to enable them to choose wisely and be more committed to their studies as the Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (SSCE) is around the corner, to make their teachers and parents proud.

The Education Director of NYCN Zaria, Malam Isah Shu’aibu, together with the school’s Guidance and Counselling Officer, Malama Hauwa’u Musa, encouraged the students to channel all their complaints regarding academics to the school’s counselling unit.

Earlier, the school’s Vice Principal (Administration) while welcoming the delegation expressed the school’s delight for having many young successful youth coming to encourage their students and urged the students to listen attentively and learn.

Another Teacher from the school, Malam Bashir Sai’du, reiterated the role of youth in nation-building and encouraged the students to be good ambassadors of the school.

NYCN awarded some less privileged students in the school with JAMB registration support and assured them of their continued support to the education of the youth. The Chairman also empowered a young student who has demonstrated entrepreneurial skills, selling small chops outside school hours to sustain some of her needs.

He expressed gratitude to the Quality Assurance Office of the Kaduna State Ministry of Education and the school management, especially the principal, Mrs. Maryam M. Saleh, for giving NYCN the platform to support its students. “I appreciate the Desk Officer from the Ministry of Education, Malam Kasimu Muhammad Lawal, for giving us the support needed to execute this project.” He said.

He added that, “I sincerely appreciate the management of the school for their warm reception, the students for listening and enjoying all we did during the program.”

The National Youth Council of Nigeria remains committed to promoting educational activities in Nigeria to support the government’s efforts.
