Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has said his recent political realignment is guided by a firm resolve to place the interests of Kano State above personal or factional considerations.
The governor made this known in a statement issued on Sunday by his spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa.
Governor Yusuf said his decision was taken in the broader interest of sustainable development in the state, urging all stakeholders supporters, political allies and critics alike, to work together for Kano’s progress.
He spoke on Saturday at the Government House, Kano, during a Motorcycle Empowerment Programme organised for social media influencers selected from the state’s 44 local government areas.
Addressing the gathering, the governor stressed that he bears no grudge against anyone, noting that his administration remains focused on improving the welfare of Kano residents.
According to him, the priority of his government is the social and economic development of the state, adding that personal sentiments would not distract him from that goal.
Governor Yusuf also declared an end to what he described as an era of disrespectful and abusive statements against traditional, religious and political leaders.
He warned that his administration would no longer tolerate the promotion of insults and division, but would instead encourage unity, mutual respect and collective prosperity.
The governor said recent partnerships aimed at strengthening Kano’s political and economic stability were already producing positive outcomes, citing improved collaboration between the state government and the Nigeria Police Force in tackling crime.
Commenting on early discussions surrounding the 2027 general elections, Governor Yusuf said leadership is ultimately determined by divine will.
He added that his attention remains firmly on delivering development projects that will improve the lives of the people, regardless of political speculation about the future.
The governor further stated that he would accept in good faith whoever eventually emerges to lead the state.
Governor Yusuf also urged social media influencers to act responsibly, calling on them to use their platforms to project values that promote peace, unity and humility, in line with the true teachings of Islam.
