Every sensible Nigerian, (and and Hajiya Zainab, from her writings, has proven to be super sensible, if there is such a term) ought to be worried when they see the direction ( or lack of it) Nigeria is going under Tinubu.
If some are not able to read the article, Hajiya Zainab wrote to draw our attention to an anomaly in our external relations and in our internal governance systems.
Not known to many, Nigeria’s healthcare system had been financed significantly by foreign donors, particularly United States. Was it because we had no money? No, it was ( is) because the health of its citizens is not Nigerian governments’ priority. Then came Donald Trump with his new found love for Nigerian Christians. They manufactured a ‘missile’ and called it ‘Genocide Against Christians’. They chose Sokoto ( capital of the Caliphate) to test it, for it is alleged that it is Muslims who are killing ‘defenseless’ Christians.
To show Nigerian Christians that they have a godfather who is more than willing to come to their aid, Trump decided to continue with his support for Nigeria’s healthcare only if there is special allocation to over 900 Christians-owned health facilities.
Tinubu is officially known to be a Muslim. Many believe Islam has no special place in his heart, afterall neither his wife nor any of his children is a Muslim.
That won’t deter Trump though. Tinubu must pass tests which Trump has prepared in order for Tinubu to show his distance from Islam. He would be the first president in Nigeria’s history to accept a foreign power’s attempt to segregate Nigeria’s population as Christians and Muslims, particularly with regards to receiving aid from United States.
What the author overlooked was the fact that as a thoroughly rattled ‘president’ he could not refuse to sign the toxic MOU. Tinubu had to sign in order to appease the Protector-in-Chief of Nigeria’s Christians.
A question: when nations come of age, is it possible for them to go back and be mentally retarded, no longer able to behave like adults? If no nation ever became mentally retarded after being a global player as exemplified by late General Murtala Muhammad ( the author of Africa has come of Age speech), Nigeria has now lost its clout, it cannot even resist the bigotry of a foreign president against its people.
We are told that the proliferation of Pentecostal Churches in Nigeria was because foreign headquarters was financing them. Of course Nigerian Muslims cannot challenge the right of Christians to receive aid from their Churches’ headquarters. However, this is different. Nigerian federal government belongs to Muslims, Christians, Animists, and even Atheists if any. So a Nigerian president ought not be compelled to show favoritism to one religion over another.
However, fear stops those who ran Nigeria’s security apparatus to say that it is Western powers who created or nurtured terrorists in Nigeria. Looks like it is foreign Christians who are killing Nigerian Christians, blaming Nigerian Muslims, and appearing in the eyes of Nigerian Christians as saviours and protectors.
So ingenious, are they not?
Venezuelans are Christians, Cubans also, Columbians, Congolese, South Africans…all are targeted by American leadership. Yet, Nigerian Christian leadership would not take any lesson from this.
They would worship Trump if he brings their internal enemies ( Nigerian Muslims) to ruin.
Nigerian Muslims, Nigeria itself, will pay dearly for Tinubu’s extreme love for power such that he can be like a suicide bomber to the nation itself.
Who can dissuade him? Nobody!
