The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has opened an investigation into alleged misconduct during two quarter-final matches at the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Morocco 2025, involving Algeria vs Nigeria and Cameroon vs Morocco.
CAF disclosed that the decision followed a review of official match reports and available video evidence from the fixtures, which reportedly raised concerns over conduct during the games.
In a statement, the continental football body confirmed that the cases have been formally referred to the CAF Disciplinary Board for further examination and appropriate action in line with its regulations.
CAF did not immediately provide details on the specific nature of the alleged misconduct or the individuals involved, noting that further communication would be issued after the Disciplinary Board concludes its proceedings.
The investigation comes amid heightened scrutiny of officiating standards and on-field behaviour as the tournament enters its decisive stages.
