Nigeria’s Super Eagles cruised into the semi-finals of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations after a convincing 2–0 victory over Algeria at the Grand Stade de Marrakech on Saturday.

Algeria, who had conceded just one goal before the quarter-final, were overwhelmed by Nigeria’s intensity and sharp second-half display, as the Super Eagles produced a dominant performance after the break.

The win sets up a highly anticipated semi-final showdown with tournament hosts Morocco.

Nigeria wasted no time asserting control in the second half, breaking the deadlock in the 47th minute.

Victor Osimhen powered home a trademark header from a precise Bruno Onyemaechi cross, registering his fourth goal of the tournament.

Ten minutes later, the Super Eagles doubled their advantage through a well-worked team move. Alex Iwobi unlocked the Algerian defence with an exquisite outside-of-the-boot pass, Osimhen squared unselfishly across goal, and Akor Adams calmly rounded goalkeeper Luca Zidane before tapping into an empty net.

The emphatic win confirmed Nigeria’s place among the last four, with Osimhen once again leading the charge through a goal and an assist in a commanding performance against the Desert Foxes.
