The Kano State Police Command has arrested three suspected armed robbers and recovered two pistols and 23 rounds of live ammunition during intelligence-led operations in the state.
The arrests were carried out by operatives of the Command’s Special Weapon and Tactics (SWAT) Base, Dorayi, in line with the directive of the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, on sustained intelligence-driven policing.
Acting on credible intelligence and under the directive of the Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, the operatives first arrested a 37-year-old suspect, Isyaku Maude, popularly known as Dan Sokoto, of Bachirawa Quarters, Kano.
Police said Maude confessed to being involved in a series of armed robbery operations within Kano metropolis alongside members of his syndicate.
The police noted that further discreet investigations led to the arrest of two additional suspects identified as Sahabi Danladi, 20, of Kofar Mata Quarters, and Najib Ibrahim, 32, of Bachirawa Quarters, both in Kano. Items recovered from the suspects include one Beretta pistol with breach number 2322892, one locally fabricated Beretta pistol, and 23 rounds of 9mm live ammunition.
Commending the officers involved in the operation, the Commissioner of Police praised their dedication and professionalism, while also appreciating residents of the state for their continued cooperation and support.
He assured that investigations were ongoing and that the suspects would be charged to court upon conclusion of the probe.
