Troops of the Nigerian Army/Sector 2 Joint Task Force, North West Operation Fagge San Gamma, have neutralized 11 armed bandits and recovered a cache of arms. The soldiers, deployed for counter-banditry and counter-terrorism operations in Sokoto State, carried out the operation near Kurawa Village in Sabon Birni Local Government Area, disrupting a planned attack on Tara Village, a critical route used for cross-movement by armed bandits and terrorists.

According to a post by the Headquarters, Nigerian Army, on Facebook, the operation was executed following credible intelligence.
“Acting on precise credible intelligence, the strike team executed a well-coordinated ambush, engaging the bandits in an intense firefight. The operation resulted in the neutralization of 11 bandits, while others fled with gunshot wounds. The troops recovered 8 AK-47 rifles, 5 extra magazines and 26 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition,” the post stated.

However, the operation not only averted a potential terrorist attack but also delivered a significant blow to the bandits and terrorist networks operating within the Sabon Birni corridor, which has remained a flashpoint in recent times. The proactive action of the troops underscores their commitment to safeguarding the lives and property of citizens in Sokoto State and surrounding communities.

The success of the mission further reinforces the Division’s resolve to combat banditry and terrorism and to enhance security across the state.
