Governor Yusuf Felicitates Elder Statesman Tanko Yakasai at 100

‎‎Kano State Governor, Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf, has joined Nigerians at home and abroad in celebrating elder statesman Alhaji Tanko Yakasai, who marks his 100th birthday today, describing him as “a towering figure in Nigeria’s political evolution and a pride to Kano State

.”‎‎This was contained in a statement signed by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa on Friday. ‎‎Governor Yusuf said Alhaji Tanko Yakasai’s remarkable journey, spanning from the pre-independence era to the present day, stands as a testimony to courage, activism, and an unwavering commitment to justice and democratic ideals.‎‎

The governor noted that Yakasai’s contributions to Northern Nigerian politics, his early struggle for the rights of the talakawa under NEPU, and his decades of public service have earned him a permanent place in the history of the nation.‎‎He added that reaching the age of 100 is not only a personal blessing for the Yakasai family but also an opportunity for Kano State and Nigeria to reflect on the values of unity, patriotism, and principled leadership that the centenarian represents.

‎‎Governor Yusuf prayed for renewed strength, grace, and good health for Alhaji Tanko Yakasai, urging younger generations to learn from his courage, consistency, and lifelong dedication to the welfare of the people.‎‎He further reaffirmed the Kano State Government’s respect and admiration for the elder statesman, describing him as “one of the last surviving architects of Nigeria’s formative political journey.”
