Hisbah board detains 25 suspects for same-sex marriage in Kano

The Kano State Hisbah Board has announced the arrest of 25 individuals, including 18 men and 7 women, for allegedly organising a same-sex marriage at Fatima Event Centre in Hotoro, Kano.

The suspects were apprehended on Saturday, October 25, 2025, following a tip-off from a concerned resident, Hisbah Deputy Commander, Mujahedeen Aminudeen revealed in a statement issued on Sunday.

The Sharia police stated that the board would not tolerate activities that tarnish Kano’s reputation.

“We got a report that some people are allegedly organising same-sex marriage. Our personnel stormed the venue and successfully arrested 25 persons,” Aminudeen said.

The suspects including the groom, the Deputy Commander said, hailed from areas like Sheka, Yar Gaya, and Kofar Nasarawa, insisting that they would face charges after investigations.

Aminudeen urged the public to report immoral activities, emphasising the board’s commitment to maintaining Kano’s moral standards.

“We are calling on members of the public to support the board by reporting immoral activities in the state.

“The board will continue to raid such places that promote immorality,” Aminudeen added.
