Hundreds of commuters plying the ever busy Sango-Eleyele Road in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, are currently stranded.
This was as a result of a protest embarked upon by students of the Polytechnic Ibadan.
The students embarked upon the protest as a result of the recent announcement made by Governor Seyi Makinde of the state to rename the institution.
Makinde announced his plans a few days ago to rename The Polytechnic Ibadan to Omololu Olunloyo Polytechnic, Ibadan.
Olunloyo was the first Ibadan person to serve as the governor of old Oyo State.
He served between October and December 1983.
The students of the institution are currently protesting the renaming of the institution.
The students in the early hours of Tuesday blocked the entrance gates of the institution.
They also blocked Sango-Eleyele Road, and this made many commuters, residents, and travellers plying the road stranded.
Some staff of the institution are also stranded, as majority of them were unable to gain access to the institution.
