After paying an undisclosed ransom, three members of Labaran Maku’s immediate family who were abducted on Tuesday in his Wakkama Village in Nasarawa State’s Akwanga Local Council were released. Maku was a former minister of information.
Some heavily armed men had invaded the family compound about 9pm on Tuesday and taken away two men and a woman to an unknown destination.
The victims were identified as Anzaku Maku, Gambo Maku and Namo Maku, all children of Maku’s elder brother.
It was learnt that the kidnappers demanded for N30million as ransom.
However, a relative of the victims, Mr Michael Danjuma, told Daily Trust that the victims were released on Tuesday night after an amount of money was paid to the abductors as ransom.
He explained that the three released victims are in good condition though would need to be seen by a doctor owing to the untold hardship they were compelled to go through at the hands of their abductors.
“The family members were forced to pay the undisclosed ransom because of the recurrent tragedy of bandits’ attacks on the family,” he said.
