Frontline Kano Central senatorial candidate in the next Saturday election, Abdussalam Abdulkadir Zaura on Tuesday flagged off N200m scholarship for Kano students across tertiary Institutions.
The ceremony that attracted Persons of Diverse Political interests which held at his campaign office along the strategic Kano – Zaria federal highway was turned to a carnival by beneficiaries.
In his address, the business mogul said, no fewer than 10,000 students are to benefit from the gesture, as he stressed that the figure would be increase to 30,000 if elected as Senator.
He explained that the scholarship which would be awarded in batches was flagged off with N60 million for 3000 students across the 44 local government areas studying at various tertiary institutions.
The soft spoken politician said “I wish to thank the Almighty God for giving me the opportunity to fulfil the promise I made to give scholarship of N200 million to 10,000 students.
He further explained that “3,000 students are going to benefit with N20,000 each in the first batch which will be disbursed from today.
Zaura revealed that “My plan is to raise the number of beneficiaries to 30,000. I call on you all to join us in supporting you by doing the right thing with your votes” .
A beneficiary, Ismail Muhammad a Business Administration student of Kano state Polytechnic
expressed gratitude on behalf of other beneficiaries calling on the senatorial candidate to “keep on the good work”.
