Breaking: El-Rufai, Bello present as Supreme Court adjourns hearing on old naira deadline

The Supreme Court on Wednesday adjourned to February 22, two days to the presidential election, the case brought against the federal government by three state governments – Kaduna, Zamfara and Kogi states over the terminal date for the continued use of old domination of the 200, 500 and 1000 naira notes.

At Wednesday’s sitting, the Kaduna state governor, Nasir El-Rufai, who is the arrow head to the opposition to the February 10 deadline earlier set by the Central Bank of Nigeria, and Yahaya Bello, the Kogi state governor, were in court with their counsel.

The supreme court ruled that all other parties which have been joined in the case should consolidate their motions for definite hearing.
