Breaking: Reps move to issue warrant of arrest on Emefiele, bank CEOs

The Speaker of the House of Reprsentatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, has threatened to issue a warrant of arrest against the governor of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and managing directors of various banks, if they refuse to honour invitation to meet with lawmakers at the green chamber.

The House had on Tuesday, constituted an ad-hoc committee to intervene for a possible extension of the deadline, following which management of the CBN led by its Governor, Mr. Godwin Emefiele and chief executive officers of all the commercial banks in Nigeria.

However, the CBN team failed to appear before the panel on Wednesday, citing late receipt of the communication, as the committee said both the CBN and the bank MDs are expected at a meeting last in the day.
