
Barely a week after releasing four victims with a threaten to abduct President Muhammadu Buhari and Governor Nasir el-Rufai, the terrorists who attacked the Abuja-Kaduna train have released five of the remaining 39 hostages.
Though security agents and the Kaduna state government were yet to react, or issue any statement regarding the development, the negotiator and spokesman of Sheikh Ahmed Mahmud Gumi, Malam Tukur Mamu, confirmed their freedom.
Tukur Mamu, the Dan Iyan Fika and publisher of Desert Herald, who voluntarily engaged in negotiating the release of the train victims, confirmed the release of five additional victims of the AK9 Train attack.
Mamu said all the five released victims were in his office on Tuesday afternoon immediately after their released to thank him for his past efforts.
He gave the names of the five victims released on Tuesday as; Prof. Dr. Mustapha Umar Imam, Akibu Lawal, Abubakar Ahmed Rufai, Mukthar Shu’aibu and Sidi Aminu Sharif.
Though it was not immediately clear what amount of ransom was paid, but the terrorists had recently demanded a ransom of N100 million on each of the remaining hostages before releasing four of them last week and five others now.
