
The Senate Wednesday confirmed the nominations of seven ministerial nominees forwarded to it by President Muhammadu Buhari last week .
The confirmed nominees are Ikoh , Henry Ikechukwu from Abia State , Umana Okon Umana from Akwa – Ibom State , Ekumankana Joseph Nkama from Ebonyi State and Good luck Nana Opiah from Imo State .
Others are Umar Ibrahim El – Yakub from Kano State , Adenola Adewole Adegoroye from Ondo State and Udum Udi from Rivers State .
Confirmation of the nominees followed four hours of rigorous screening carried out on each of the nominees .
But the nominees from Imo and Kano States , were given the treatment of take a bow and go , on account of previously been members of the House of Representatives at different times between 2003 and 2019.
The President of the Senate , Ahmad Lawan after the confirmation, urged the Ministers – Designate , to give in their best in whatever offices assigned to.
He said the shortness of time they have to serve , should not discourage them from making the required impacts in what ever portfolio given .
” Ten or eleven months are enough for anybody driven with passion for national service , to make impacts and add the required value to good governance “, he said .
Assuring Nigerians of their readiness to put in their best within the available limited time , the nominee from Imo State , Good luck Nana Opiah said 24 hours is enough to make impacts in governance .
Opiah who spoke to Senate Correspondent after his screening said , the ten or eleven months available to serve as Hon Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in whatever ministry , will be optimally utilised in adding values to Good Governance.
” Shortness of time to me is no hindrance for good performance in whatever national assignment given .
” I am very ready and passionate to give my all , in turning around for better any sector given to supervise as Minister.
” This appointment is a call to serve and I’m patriotically ready for the task”, he said .
