
The presidential candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has debunked speculation that he intends to pick a fellow Muslim as his running mate.
Tinubu, speaking to newsmen in Ekiti State, described those spreading the rumours as undemocratic elements that are already threatened by his imminent victory in the 2023 general election.
The former Governor of Lagos state stressed that the VP slot belongs to the Northeastern region and particularly the Christians, adding that consultations are still ongoing.
“The VP slot belongs to the Northeastern region and particularly the Christians, but consultations are yet ongoing as to who will be decided,” Vanguard quoted him as saying.
He therefore assured Nigerians that no group, institution or person can impose a Vice President on him.
He added that his choice of a vice President will be in favour of Nigerians.
